Wedding Cord DIY Box

Many days have already passed and I have not yet finished my wedding cord because I ran out of materials. I want to do something thus instead of making "tunganga", I thought of the container of the cord. In some other weddings that I have witnessed, cords are just carried by the sponsors as it is. But I want something different.

Deciding on how the container would look like

I am thinking of a pouch to contain the wedding cord. It will be carried by the sponsor during the bridal march. On the other hand, I am also considering a cord box.

Creating pattern for the wedding cord container

Since that pattern for the box is easier to do than the pouch I decided to kill my time in creating the box pattern. I first researched on the web, but they did not have the size that I want. Thus, I created mine. Pinagtiyaga-an ko talagang gawin hehe. It would look like this, but I still do not know how it would turn out though.

  • Option 1: Wedding cord Box

  • Option 2: Wedding Cord Box

The box will be of course in color green (moss green) and will be tied with an orange riboon. If these will the chosen one, I'd want it to be carried by the sponsor on the alter, open it, get the cord and hand the box to the MOH before putting the cord to the couple. After which the sponsor will get the box from the MOH and then go back to their seats.

Ill show the pouch when I have finished creating it.

Project Start - So Much Excitement and Enthusiasm in the Air

It's a year and more to go but I and H2B have already started our project. I guess it's just proper since that we decided that almost everything are DIY's.

Project 1: Guests' souvenirs.

This is H2B's task. We have not yet collected and bought our materials but we already have the design. We were given samples of our main material last Saturday and right after work, we jumped into starting our project. We bought the other materials right from the local shop. We were so excited and more than satisfied with the outcome that we were eager to do more. Unfortunately, there were no more materials. H2B creates the souvenirs, while I am in-charge of the packaging of it. Indeed creating the souvenir is a tedious process but let me tell you, creating the packaging is even more tedious.

Project 2: Personalized Wedding Cord

I researched on the Internet about wedding cords and I came up to a site that suggests for a personalized wedding cord (again thanks Eyz). Indeed a very tedious and exhausting process. I won't elaborate how tedious it is for I still want it to be a surprise. (pun intended). I delayed my sleep for 2 nights already and this will continue in the days to come.  I had the drive to finish the task because I was so excited to see the outcome. My materials ran out though, thus I wasn't able to finish my project for now. The only lacking detail in this one is the finishing touch :). Thanks to my excitement, I don't get bored.

Project 3: Invitation Layout

Thanks to my sis who volunteered to do my invitation for me. I won't have to bother myself in the lay-outing of the invitations, labels, tarps, RSVP card, and more. Well, she has an eye for colors and I believe in her capabilities.

I went to their house last Sunday and stayed there so I can also comment on the layout that she made. Turned out that there were only little alterations. I liked the style and the simplicity of the design. It reflects us.

More to come....

Initial Preps - Jitter Already?

Well, Im a newbiew on this stuff. I don't really know where to start and it is still a year and 5 months (perhaps to come) but the pressure is on me already. Indeed planning for a big event in your life is quite a pressure especially if you'd want it to be D-I-Y.

Hmmm, how do i start. making a checklist perhaps? Thanks to Eyzel (whom i have not yet met personally), who by just reading her blog, inspired me to create one for this big event. So here it goes.

Currently, we still are in the planning stage. Creating checklists yet and making initial preparations.

  • Wedding Schedule
    • Not this year, next year perhaps? I won't yet divulge the date. :)
  • Church
    • Tentative, Christ the King Cathedral. (checked)
  • Wedding concept/Motif
    • At first I wanted to have a woodland fairy concept but I have seen the cons of it. Keeping a concept is quite teadious. You have to align everything to the concept to make it more special and unforgettable. At the same time, what's the use of a concept if you can't keep it.
    • We both agreed to have green and orange motif (to support the woodland fairy theme as well) (checked)
  • Wedding Coordinator
    • We planned not to have a wedding coordinator because his brother can do it for him.
  • Wedding invitations
    • We also opt to create our own invitations (layout and printing) because I, being an IT myself, can do the lay-outing.
  • Wedding Souvenirs
    • After a long deliberation and changes, we have come up with one. It is already in the process and thanks to a friend, we could have it at a lower price.
  • Wedding reception
    • Tentative still, but we already have one so basically, this one is checked
  • Guest list
    • I want to have a private wedding - 150 to 200 will do, I dunno how it would turn out though given that we are both friendly and "amiable" (hehe). Besides, there is no "pamamanhikan" yet. These are just our plans, so there are still suggestions from parents.
  • Wedding dresses
    • There is already the design, but we have not yet contacted a supplier coz we believe that it is still early for that. Are we right?
  • Wedding cake
    • a concept is already there
  • Others
    • on the process
By just writing this blog, I can now believe that this process can be very exhausting. Another day passes and the closer you come to the big day. Wish me luck. More posts to come.
